Investors in People Success for Thermoseal Group

Thermoseal Group has achieved the ‘Developed’ level of performance after being successfully assessed by Investors in People, proving that everyone working for the IGU component supplier ‘is committed to the values of the business and is striving to provide high-quality products and excellent service to the company’s customers’.
“This is a fantastic result for Thermoseal Group,” said MD and owner, Gwain Paterson. “The vision we have within the company to provide the industry’s best components for IGUs can only be realised if everyone within the organisation shares it.
“I am confident that following this excellent Investors in People report, we can continue to successfully grow our business to meet an expected uptick in demand, while growing our burgeoning export business.”
The report was compiled by Gordon Stopani, who interviewed about two-thirds of Thermoseal Group’s employees to measure how well the company empowered its workforce.
“There was very good understanding amongst interviewees about the company’s plans and goals, all indicating that they were aware of the significant investments being made in new plant and equipment as a part of the company’s growth plans,” he said. “As a result of this investment, a number of people are learning new skills and ways of working, helping to ensure that the company remains highly competitive.”
Thermoseal Group is installing new lines and storage facilities to manufacture and distribute larger quantities of Thermobar in 12mm, 14mm and 16mm widths in preparation for the increase in demand for triple glazing.
The company also manufactures Thermoflex flexible spacer bar from the same site, and has recently invested in a third twin-strand extruder, which can produce all thicknesses including 4.8mm, 6.3mm and 7.3mm, and air spaces up to 28mm in twin strand.
Thermoseal Group also supplies a range of other products required for the manufacture of sealed units, including corner keys, desiccant, primary and secondary sealant, and cloth tape. All components are tested at the company’s laboratory before distribution, guaranteeing that they all work together effectively for a long-lasting sealed unit.
According to the Investors in People report, survey sentiment is very positive and since the last survey in 2020, has improved across all nine of the Indicators of the Standard, showing excellent progress.
Work is well-structured and organised, and the growing investments in new plant and technology is supporting the company to grow and thrive, with record levels of business performance being delivered.
Interviews demonstrated that employees are very satisfied working for the company and see it as a fair and good employer. There has also been notable investment of time and money in training and learning which is providing much greater opportunities for employees at all levels, and which will serve to support the company’s talent management pipeline.
“We employ almost 150 people over three sites in Wigan and Birmingham,” Gwain said. “Thanks to the hard work carried out by our colleagues working in production, warehousing, testing, sales, distribution, technical support – among many other roles – we have become the leading supplier of IGU components in the glazing industry, and I am proud on everyone’s behalf that we have achieved this award.”
