Quality/Development Technologist (Wigan)

Due to continued investment in our Technical Centre in Wigan, we are looking to recruit a Quality / Development Technologist to join our Research and Development Team. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience with ISO 9001 and Quality Control Systems and Processes.  They will also be able to contribute to ongoing research and product development and so previous laboratory experience would be an advantage.

Location: Wigan

Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Salary: A competitive salary will be offered based upon experience.

Role /Responsibilities:

  • Initial focus on Quality Control Monitoring and analysis including Implementation and Administration of ISO9001:2015 accreditation
  • Co-ordination and implementation of Internal ISO9001 Audits
  • Development of new and existing products
  • Evaluation and resolution of customer problems
  • Analysis and Interpretation of experimental data
  • Operation of Laboratory analytical and test equipment
  • Testing of new products to current and future industry standards using in-house testing equipment
  • Day to day problem solving
  • Routine testing of current products and benchmarking against competition

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • ISO 9001 Systems and Usage
  • General Industrial laboratory experience
  • Ability to use Excel and Word Software Packages

This is a full time position which comes with a discretionary bonus scheme and a Pension and Medical Scheme is available after successful completion of the probationary period.

Chemist (Wigan)

We are currently looking for a candidate with a degree in Chemistry or equivalent qualification to join our Wigan team as a Chemist. The Chemist will have has access to our own extensive laboratory equipment in our Technical Centre and EN1279 Test Laboratory.  The ideal candidate will have experience of thermal and mechanical testing, as well as the ability to provide analytical reports demonstrating the feasibility of products within Insulated Glass (IG) sealed units.

Location: Wigan
Hours: 8:30am – 5:00pm
Salary: A competitive salary will be offered based upon experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Day-to-day operation materials testing equipment eg. Compound Analysis; Mass Spectrometer; Tensometer, Gas Desorption; UV testing etc.
  • Generating, analysing and interpreting thermal and mechanical data that supports the value proposition for speciality polymer materials and providing reports to the TM
  • Using data and knowledge generated to contribute towards the development of new, innovative products
  • Developing current testing methods and expanding capabilities to demonstrate structure-property relationships for materials and showcase the durability profile
  • To assist the TM in ensuring that Health and Safety rules and regulations are adhered to and all matters relating to this are dealt with in line with the companies Health and Safety Policy
  • Taking instruction in relation to work station assignment/rotations; training and development; break schedules; adopting a flexible approach to rotational shift allocation – liaising with TM for holiday requests and overtime.
  • To regularly check batch records and output figures are captured by the production team and analyse in line with SOPs and quality control procedures on direction of the TM
  • To take a hands-on approach to make specific working adjustments as necessary to equipment and samples – to highlight any issues or product outside of accepted specification to the TM
  • Good communication both verbally or written to TM/Production Manager/Head of Production and all relevant departments
  • Maintain housekeeping standards for a clean and safe workplace
  • All employees are responsible for ensuring company resources are used in an effective manner to ensure best operating costs
  • To wear the company uniform including safety footwear and represent the business in a professional and courteous manner at all times

Person Specification:

  • Proficient in English
  • Minimum BSc Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or similar discipline
  • Hands-on experience of thermal or mechanical testing techniques gained in a university or industrial laboratory setting
  • Strong data interpretation and report writing skills
  • Inquisitive mindset, with a passion for laboratory-based work
  • Pro-active and unafraid to take the initiative
  • Computer literacy and ability to work on Windows-based IT packages including Word and Excel.
  • Flexibility and willing to multitask.  Must be able to attend meetings as required
  • Good time-keeping, organisation and time management skills
  • Customer Focused offering a polite, professional and approachable service to all customers (internal and external if required) and contacts at all times.
  • Ability to motivate, lead and work as an effective member of a team
  • A logical and structured thinker who critically assesses his/her own performance
  • To approach all tasks with integrity and encourage and inspire trust from colleagues.

Lead Lamination Machine Operator/Setter (Kent)

We are looking for a machine operator/setter with the right experience to join our production team in Kent.

Location: Strood, Kent
Salary: £11.48 per hour
Hours: 8.30 to 17.00 on a Mon-Fri basis, Permanent
Benefits: 25 days per year, plus statutory Bank Holidays, bonus scheme based on both personal and company performance, pension scheme and company healthcare.

Job Description:
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be required to run various Lead lamination and slitting machines. You will also need to have the ability to perform size changes and basic maintenance. Adhering to Health and Safety requirements is of primary importance.  Quality control checks will also be an important part of the daily routine.

Person Specification:

  • Proficient in English
  • GCSE’s or equivalent qualifications including Maths and English 
  • Applicants must have at least one years’ experience in operating factory machinery   
  • NVQ Level 2 in Performing Manufacturing operations or equivalent qualification would be advantageous. 
  • All applicants must have proof of right to work in the UK.

Warehouse Operative (Kent)

We are looking for a Warehouse Operative with the right experience to join our warehouse team in Kent.

Location: Strood, Kent.

Salary: £8.50 per hour plus a shift allowance. 

Hours:  Full time and Permanent. Two rotational shifts of 6.00am-2.00pm and 2.00pm–10.00pm

Benefits: 25 days holiday per year of which some must be saved for Christmas shutdown, plus statutory Bank Holidays, Profit Related Bonus Scheme (based on both personal and company performance) and optional Health and Pension Schemes after successful completion of the probationary period.

Key Skills

  • Minimum 1 years' recent experience 
  • Confident in all aspects of general warehouse duties
